A new look format saw athletes from each team competing in up to 6 events from track and field throughout the afternoon.
It was wonderful to see athletes from Slough Junior girls and boys competing for the first time with such enthusiasm and commitment alongside more experienced athletes who know the Club’s reputation as consistently one of the best in county and always podium placed.
Some last minute changes to each of the “Blue” top teams served only to inspire our athletes to work harder for each other in every event whilst the Red and Green team athletes sprinted, jumped and threw brilliantly to deny other teams points and to boost the overall performance of the Club.
One of the highlights of the afternoon saw Emile Richardson-Tuitt equal the club (and county?) U11 standing long jump record, held by Morgan Lake, at 2.24m.
After an incredibly tense afternoon of very close team and individual track and field competition the thrills, spills and excitement of the Grand Prix relays concluded the afternoon.
A special mention should be made of and thanks extended to Francesca who managed both the boys and the girls teams, very ably assisted by Jamie Gryce (girls) and Kathy Thorne (boys), and the coaches who worked hard throughout the afternoon running field events and assisting with track events. Without these willing souls these events don’t happen - well done each of you.
The final scores saw the Blue teams of Slough Junior AC come 4th in the girls competition whilst the boys completed a memorable 2 point victory over Reading AC to retain the County Champions title for not less than the 4th consecutive year.
Well done to everyone involved - a day to be proud to be on team Slough Junior AC
