- U13 U15 County Championships Sportshall
In the U13 Girls very strong performances particularly from Hope (standing long jump shot and 2 laps) and Emilie (standing long jump and vertical jump) saw the Blue team secure 3rd place overall in the tightest of the competitions through the afternoon. Emilie and Hope were rewarded with joint second place in the U13 Girls All-Rounder competition. The Red team, down to only 4 athletes, competed well throughout the afternoon and showed a great spirit and determination.
The U13 Boys continued their very strong season. John scored maximum points in winning the All-Rounder competition; Feranmi and Klaus were both very strong particularly on the track and Harrison set a new PB in the shot as the Blue team won by a convincing margin of points. Well done to Scott for teaming up with the 3 athletes from Team Kennet allowing them to compete as a team in the competition.
Our U15 Girls again pulled out a great team performance winning the team event, with each of them finishing in the top 10 of the All-Rounder competition in what is a demanding afternoon where they compete in 6 individual events and 2 team relay events. Louisa was in great form, back after a couple of weeks out through injury, and won the U15 Girls All-Rounder competition.
With 3 full teams we expected a strong result in the U15 Boys competition. With all of the boys competing hard against each other as well as the athletes from the other clubs throughout the afternoon there was always going to be a high standard of performance and they delivered. David was solid and consistent across each of the individual events as well as the team track events and was rewarded with second place in the All-Rounder competition – a fantastic achievement for a first year U15 athlete against such strong competition. Jaiquarn ran exceptionally well in addition to some good field events to win the U15 Boys All-Rounder award. The U15 Boys Blue team won the team competition with the Red team 3rd and Yellow team 5th. Delanshe competed in a composite team with Bracknell and Team Kennet which came second.
Thanks also to the team managers for the calm organisation of the teams throughout the afternoon. Again thanks were extended on behalf of Berkshire AA to the coaches who worked tirelessly throughout the afternoon supporting the event.
- FINAL PLEA : Team Managers Needed Urgently
Without Team Managers the club cannot compete at the Wessex Young Athletes League ( this includes the U11 QuadKids - which we won this year - as well as U13 U15 and U17 age groups) during the summer.
SJAC inclusion in the Wessex League in 2015 will be dependent on having the necessary team managers.
The fixture list has been published and to be fair to the League, allowing other teams wanting to enter the league as well as planning and preparing the training schedule for SJAC athletes we will either confirm our intention to enter or leave the league by the end of the month.
To learn more please speak with Mike and or Conrad as soon as possible.
