Harrison Thorne (U15B) set a new indoor high jump PB (1.45m) at Brunel.
A good turnout from the younger members of the club, and especially the boys, at a blustery, windy and pretty cold Bracknell on 28th March saw some very encouraging results and things are looking good for the summer. Trey Bennett (U11B) came 2nd (11.87) in the 75m and won the 150m (23.4); James Day (U11B) came 3rd in the 150m (23.9) a ran a superb race from the front to win the 600m ( 1:59.12); Luke McGarvie also ran strongly in the 150m and 600m - the boys are getting ready nicely for their defence of the WYAL QuadKids title.
Akeem Willis (U13B) ran well to win his heat in the 80m (11.57) and was 4th on the 150m (21.36). There were also some very encouraging performances on the track from Max McGarvie (U13B 100m 3rd 3:18.42), Kyle Ferguson (U13B), Scott Lange(U13B) and Finn O’Shea (U13B). In the field Andrej Naveira (U13B) came 3rd in the shot (5.26m); Connor Rapecki (U13B) was 2nd in the long jump (4.26m) and the high jump (1.32m NPB).
Our U13 girls were represented by Hope Dandjinou (80m 11.56 shot and 200m) and Lucy Gryce (1000m 3:32.43; shot 6.67m NPB 3rd; long jump 3.99m).
In the U15 Boys Nathan Smith threw the 4kg shot for the first time in competition and ran the 200m – remember he is first and foremost a javelin thrower...Ross McGarvie ran in the 800m; Joel Lange in the 1500m
Our sole U17W was Louisa Snape who ran to a good finish in the 200m.
At Lee Valley on Sunday Lucy Gryce furthered our reputation for producing all round athletes with a series of strong performance in the U13 Indoor Pentathlon setting new indoor PB’s in the shot, high jump and 800m as she amassed 2141 points to come 5th overall in her first year as an U13.
